What is the difference between translation and localization?

Translation transfers words — localization transfers meaning. A German "We are your reliable partner" sounds stiff and impersonal when literally translated into Turkish. Localization would instead use the Turkish communication style, which is more direct, warmer and relationship-oriented. Add to this local references, appropriate images, legal adjustments and culturally fitting CTAs. Anyone who only translates loses conversions.

Do I need separate domains for German and Turkish versions?

No. The most common and SEO-friendly solution is subdirectories (harunkuskondu.com/tr/ for Turkish) or subdomains (tr.domain.com). For most SMEs I recommend subdirectories, as domain authority remains consolidated. Separate domains (domain.com.tr) can make sense if you want to build a long-term Turkish market presence — that depends on your strategy.

How do you handle hreflang, and why is it so important?

Hreflang is an HTML tag that tells Google: "This page also exists in Turkish at this URL." Without correct hreflang implementation, Google may show the wrong language version in the wrong country, leading to high bounce rates. Common mistakes include missing back-references (every language version must point to all others), wrong language codes or forgotten x-default tags. I implement this correctly from the start — and verify the implementation in Google Search Console.
